Scent on mobile phones

A Germany company called Convisual.de has just patented a mobile scent application. What does this mean? It means that consumers will be able to send scented text messages. Do you want to send the scent of an ocean breeze to your friends through your mobile phone? It is soon now possible with this new smell phone.

According to their press release, "The principle is simple and requires no additional hardware. All you will need is a mobile scent phone and an SD smart card sized chip, which provides a wide variety of scents. The scent chip can be accessed through various applications: via SMS and MMS, from a connected computer or special mobile scent programs on the cell phone. Users are allowed to accept or reject an incoming scent message in order to avoid spam.

There are many applications for this service, ranging from sweet smelling MMS greetings, to branded advertising samples for perfume manufacturers, to scent enhanced games for mobile phones and computers providing an additional sensory element for an outstanding gaming experience. "

This is what I call innovation!

The Mobile Future

Currently in Stockholm is a very interesting conference called Mobile Future which explores “the future of the mobile industry, its possibilities and challenges”. An award called a “Gold Mobile” is presented to innovative players of the year in the wireless arena in the Nordic area. Two of the companies nominated in the category “Multimedia services” is a company called Dubtools that offers Myquran which I have previously blogged about. Mickey goes Mobile

My first job out of college was working in Burbank for the Disney Company. Some would joke that it was a Mickey Mouse job – but someone had to do it. It was inspiring to see the major entertainment industry from the inside and it made me smile everyday to go by the building structure that was being held up by the seven dwarfs. There were of course benefits of going behind the scenes at the film studios, talking to creative directors, cartoonists, etc. It was a job I truly enjoyed.

I have always followed news about the Disney Company for old times sake and I just read about how Disney.com has now released a mobile version of its website. This mobile version includes video streaming, games, schedules and any usable information.

Burger King to launch Mobile Games

Just read that Burger King is to launch mobile games to promote "the King" brand. I think this is an interesting idea and reaches a consumer group who have a fast and on-the-go lifestyle. In these mobile games, advertising space will also be available for purchase. Last year, Burger King had also launched three Xbox games featuring "the King." Launch for mobile games is scheduled for spring 2008. Read more here

Just read about the cutest Hello Kitty mobile phone. Every 30 something woman remembers those school days when we had everything from pencils, erasers, notebooks, pencil cases covered with Hello Kitty. Now we can afford to have cool gadgets with a kitchy icon. Check out more details here.

The Koran in your cell phone

There is a new service available by a telephone operator which offers daily prayers, readings from the Koran in Arabic and a prayer calendar. I think this is a clever way of using your cell phone for higher purposes.

Songs for your opinions

I’ve come across a Swedish company that sends market research surveys as a text message to your mobile phone. If you answer the survey, they send the latest Mp3 song to your mobile phone which you can easily download to your mobile phone’s music library. If you don’t want to have the song on your mobile, you can forward the song to an email and download it onto your computer or your Mp3 player. Talk about innovation!
